Here is my logging arch.

made by norwood. www.norwoodindustries.com

very small log on it, we were creating a corduroy road across a swamp and that is one of the stringers running underneath. We have hauled some large spruce and cherry with it, and it works well. No winches or cables it is all physics, the choker attaches to a slider on a diagonal bar, you choke the log and as you drive forward, the resistance of the log pulls itself up and lifts the forward end off the ground.

great design, alot of thought went into it. It's light enough to align by hand but very strong

I like it. Simple is allways better. Very clever.

Like the escort too.

Woudnt it be great if ya had 2 of those for those special needs where ya gotta tow it a long ways w/o dragging on the ground and mud,,,one on each end,,, But I reckon thats what water hoses are for too.
Great operation there.

I had some pics of my homemade arch on the old site. Here some are again. This rig has tugged well over a couple hundred tons of logs from some pretty rugged terrain. I have used it a few times to get a whole log up off the ground by hoisting the smaller end up onto the rear of the pulling vehicle, then anchoring the arch on the rear end of the log. More frequently, I will use the arch on the leading end and then anchor a wooden sled on the tail end, but most of the time I just drag the tail end and then hack off the dirty part with an axe. The big-un in the picture is a yellow poplar that was over 33 inches in Dia.
