Thats me on the roof. I would like to thank God for keeping me safe and for getting everyone out alive. We had 2 firemen hurt and 2 civilians injured but nothing serious. The entire house as well as the attic was on fire. It was one smokey fire very low visability inside, thats why I was on the roof I was venting the smoke. Just thought you guys might like the pics.

Didn't know you were a fireman WVUFAN. I have done just about 30 years of that, never was one to climb much, most of my time I was an engineer. Now that is all that I do, we let the hard exciting things to the young bucks. Looks like that was a real worker there. Lester

The homeowners had started a remodel and stopped about ten years ago the house was full of holes. There were blankets on the ceilings plastic on the walls. The insulation on the walls had the paper showing. A dog knocked a blanket off of the wall and onto a space heater. Lester I work for the Parkersburg Fire Dept. Thats my day job, been doing it for 11 years now. I thank God for it every day, its a good living and alot of fun.

Did you leave them a business card? I think someone is going to need a lot of wood to rebuild that home! Maybe they could get a good deal from their friendly neighborhood fireman/ sawmill owner. What a blaze. Have not seen that much smoke come from a house fire in a long time.

We're not aloud to leave cards but if I could I would. Im also a carpenter, as well as many of our firemen, and some have gotten a little excited about getting there name to people and have gotten us all in trouble. So now we have to keep quiet. These people had no insurance and cannot afford to rebuild, the red cross has them housed right now and the city will probably have to condem the house and have it torn down. With no insurance they just cant afford to make the place safe and livable.
