:D Hi all just thought I'd post a pic of the best log fetching system to date. 11 ton truck crane works the best so far. The guy wants $15000, I think I can get it for about $12000. Might have to go for it. 8)

If you continue to mill as much as you do that is a must!! Along with your forklift.
I would think you miss out on a lot of "free" wood without a simpler way to get it home.
Let us know it you take the plunge!

I dont see a grapple, the best is a grapple with rotator,,
I'd love to have ona those too, just ta play with,,on that machine you'd still have to use tongs I think ,,I prolly got a 1000 dallors in mine,, tandem axle car trailer, with a small 8' boom crane and a 12volt winch with 24volts bein punched into it, very fast and strong, bout a 2000lb capacity, seems to work well for me,,
If I had 12 grand to sacrafice, well,, it would be else where.

Heres the link on my shop built crane, learned a lot with it ,

This deal I built nearly a couple years ago, and has been real good to me

:D Yeah Robert, with a boom truck I can fetch logs and when there ain't no logs to pick up I can go set roof trusses. This crane only has 80' feet of boom though, so that would be a limitation for that use. I don't mind using the tongs for loading logs it beats par buckling them. 8)

good lookin old truck i use some of our line trucks at times to load logs and they work well with our 10 ton trailers or a pole trailer . like using tongs also ver safe but the quickest way is the skidsteer but causes u to have and go back and get the dam thang...........like that flatbed on that truck u wouldnt have to have a trailer like me just dont let the state pooper weigh man get yah.........

:D Yeah Tree, The truck runs good, it just smokes a little. It's in real good shape for the year. He just wants a bit too much for it. I'm gonna get him down one day. He doesn't even use it anymore. I've used it three or four times and it's the ticket, with a set of log tongs. Hey Trull, I think I would rather make a few more trips with this truck, than to run way overloaded. I've gotten weight tickets moving the cranes and I can't afford that crap
